Terms of Service

NotChanged records cryptographic fingerprints of PDF files together with source metadata, and lets anyone check whether a file still matches that record. Depending on how a proof was made, that may mean:

• a browser extension reported an HTTPS download from a stated hostname; or
• the Android app received the file via Android’s share sheet from an OS-attested app (package and signing certificate); or
• an authorised issuer signed a document through our API (where available).

Optional “My Details” are self-declared and may appear on the verify page. They are not printed as raw personal data on the PDF stamp.

• A green verify result does not mean a bank, employer, or other institution endorses the contents of the PDF — only that our recorded claims about origin/app identity and byte identity hold.
• A real app or website can still share or host a forged or unrelated PDF. Trust the identity we show and your own process for what the user was asked to export.
• Verify checks are byte-exact. If another app re-saves or re-exports the PDF, the new file will usually fail verification even if it looks the same on screen.
• We do not provide legal, financial, or compliance advice.

• Use the service lawfully and only with documents you are entitled to process.
• Do not attempt to forge stamps, abuse the API, or overwhelm the service.
• Keep attestor API keys confidential. You are responsible for activity under your keys and devices.
• If you submit My Details, ensure they are accurate and that you have the right to provide them.

End users typically use extensions or the Android app without a traditional password account; devices register attestor keys. Issuer or admin access, where offered, is restricted and may be revoked. We may suspend access that appears abusive or unsafe.

The NotChanged name, site, and software are ours or our licensors’. You may use the service as provided. You retain rights in your own documents; you grant us a limited licence to process hashes and metadata as needed to run the service.

The service is provided on a best-efforts basis. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features. We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted uptime.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, NotChanged is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for decisions made in reliance on a verify result (including lending, hiring, or tenancy decisions), for third-party apps that re-save files, or for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law (including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud).

We may update these terms. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. If you continue to use the service after a change, you accept the new terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live.
